Reaching For The Sun is a documentary about memory, affection and the transformations caused by Alzheimer's disease in human relationships. While following the fragility of personal bonds in the face of memory loss, the film also introduces the possibility of a new horizon for medicine and for the people affected by the disease. The project called for a visual language capable of holding sensitivity, science and hope without losing the emotional dimension of the stories being told.
Through color, collage and motion, the film's visual world was created to translate the fragmented nature of memory. Visual identity, motion, animations, b rolls and post production worked together to build an atmosphere between remembrance, absence and reconstruction. The language combines delicacy and precision, using visual layers to represent how memories appear, disappear and reorganize over time.
